Illarion Gallant

Victoria, BC

Seasons’s Past is a narrative of trees' behaviour in fall weather. This sculpture depicts fallen leaves on grass blades with the weight of the leaves bending the grass. Natural Poetic Moment.

Bio

Victoria-based artist Illarion Gallant graduated from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 1988, going on to study stone sculpture in West Germany. He has had an illustrious career as both a public artist and registered landscape artist, with his large-scale public art, usually fashioned from aluminum or stainless steel, featured in collections across Canada. The predominant narrative of his artwork builds on historic relationships between urban and natural landscapes.
