Avery Turner
Castlegar, BC
Castlegar’s Avery Turner learned and developed an appreciation for art at a young age. He believes “art can heal because the creative neural pathways are the same as those causing pain.” He dedicates each work he creates to his children and family.
His warm, intriguing work celebrates the Kootenay’s history and natural beauty. Turner’s Sculpture is a colourful, mystical, layered mosaic, based on environmentally sustainable practices and functionality. The entire sculpture is made from 50-year old cedar repurposed. The succulent cups are intricately designed from the same recovered ages-old wood. The painstakingly crafted peak has been erected from hundreds upon hundreds of reclaimed cedar wood pieces topped with found Kootenay Lake stone.
