Lynn Van Pelt

Lynn Van Pelt, a Nelson-based artist and sculptor who studied in the Kootenays, finds inspiration for her art in the beautiful natural surroundings. She works primarily in bronze and steel and “loves to experiment in a way that brings life to the metal.”

Interaction is a lovely work. A meticulously fashioned, life-like owl sits perched on an angled wheel, rising above a number of found artifacts – saw, leg hold trap, railway spikes – scattered haphazardly below. The beauty of her owl, feathers cascading down its breast, is an undeniably strong counterpoint to the objects it rests above.
